FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Northern Health Region is seeing the highest COVID-19 test positivity rates when compared to other health regions in British Columbia, according to data being collected by the B.C. CDC.

Currently, Northern Health has seen a seven day average of 10.6 positives for every 100 tests conducted.

According to the B.C. CDC, this is the highest rate recorded by any health region in B.C. since the pandemic began, with Fraser Health topping out at a positivity rate of 9.2 in November.

Along with having a high positivity rate, Northern Health is also seeing the highest rate of COVID-19 patients in critical care in the province.

As of Monday evening, there are 46 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 18 of those in ICU, and 91 new cases were confirmed over the weekend.
