DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Dawson Creek City Council was made aware of two letters written anonymously regarding the Pride crosswalk vandalism in June.

Dawson Creek Mayor, Dale Bumstead, read the letters to the city council during the regular city council meeting on December 14th.

Mayor Bumstead began by saying that RCMP was successful in locating one of the pride crosswalk violators and decided to do some restorative justice. Mayor Bumstead, the individual, the RCMP, and members of the Dawson Creek Pride Society were able to sit down and discuss the actions.

The individual, who remains anonymous, wrote two letters, one issued to the City of Dawson Creek and one issued to the Dawson Creek Pride Society.  Along with the letters, Mayor Bumstead said the individual would also be reimbursing one-third of the City’s cost in repairing the crosswalk.

For more information, the Regular Council Meeting can be found on the City of Dawson Creek Facebook page. The segment is during the Mayor’s Business two hours and 30 minutes into the video.
