GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB. – Grande Prairie RCMP has arrested a male and seized firearms, weapons, and ammunition after executing a search warrant on a property north of the city.
According to RCMP, an investigation began after receiving reports of a male in possession of firearms and ammunition contrary to a lifetime firearms prohibition.
RCMP were able to obtain a search warrant for property located around 45 kilometres northeast of Grande Prairie.
On Wednesday, December 2, 2020, GP RCMP attended the property to execute the warrant, with assistance from the Spirit River RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Emergency Response Team, and RCMP Air Services.
According to police, while executing the search warrant, the male suspect would not surrender to police, and a four-hour standoff took place. The Tactical Armoured Vehicle was used for support, and the suspect eventually surrendered.

Leonard Berry, 69, of Grande Prairie, has been charged with 69 offenses:
Berry is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on December 14th, 2020.
