VICTORIA, B.C. – 27 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Wednesday, in the Northern Health Region, making the number of active cases increase to 378.

In the Northern Health Region, 40 are in hospital, with 14 of those in ICU.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region now stands at 1,159.

The Region’s death count remains at nine.

During the Provincial update, Premier John Horgan announced there will be 4,000 doses available next week which will be distributed in the hardest hit health regions, particularly in the Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Regions.

The first to get the shots will be health care workers in long term care, Emergency Rooms, and COVID hospitals.

According to Henry, 619 new cases were confirmed across B.C., bringing the total to 39,337.

Active cases across the province stand at 9,329 and 28,448 have since recovered.

Hospitalizations in B.C. are at 338, with 75 of those in ICU.

The province’s death count now sits at 559.

11,526 people are currently under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
