FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Northern Health has issued two new notifications for possible school exposures at the ELC and Ma Murray schools.

A person with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 was at the ELC from November 23-27, and another exposure on November 30, 2020. There was also an exposure of a lab-confirmed case at Ma Murray Community School on November 27, 2020.

Letters were sent to parents of students over the last few days, and Northern Health will contact only people who had direct contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19.

During Monday’s press conference, Dr. Bonnie Henry says schools remain safe even though the current exposures are increasing. To date, there has been limited transmission of COVID-19 at schools. Most of the cases of COVID-19 have come from other areas of the community, including social gatherings in homes.

Christmas break for schools remains the same from December 21 to January 1, 2021.
