FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The tradition of Fort St. John’s Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest is continuing this year, despite COVID-19.

The contest is usually hosted by the North Peace Cultural Centre but was cancelled, so Kara Strate of Rustic Handmade Soaps Co. decided to take it upon herself to carry on this event by hosting it on social media.

Strate says this event is a morale booster in an otherwise dark year.

“The community could really use a boost in morale and people who look forward to this contest every year, they can still do it.”

Any age or skill level is welcome to enter and can do so by sending a photo to Rustic Handmade Soaps on Facebook or Instagram.

Categories include:

Winners and runners-up will be displayed at Integra Tire for the public to drive by and enjoy.

The contest closes Monday, December 7.

Further information can be found on the Rustic Handmade Soaps Co. Facebook page.
