FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Northern Health is warning students and staff at Bert Bowes Middle School about a possible COVID-19 exposure.

Northern Health has confirmed that students and staff may have been in contact with a lab confirmed case of COVID-19 on November 16, 2020.

Last week, a similar warning was issued for North Peace Secondary School after a lab confirmed case was at the school on November 10, 12, 13, and 16.

Health Authorities continue to say every school in B.C. has a COVID-19 safety plan in place and, in this circumstance, the safety plan was followed precisely – and because of this, the risk of additional cases is very low.

If you or your child has no symptoms and you have not been informed personally by public health that they are a close contact and should self-isolate – you and your children are not required to self-isolate. However, parents should monitor their children for symptoms until November 30, which is 14 days from the last date of possible contact with the confirmed case.
