DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Northern Health has confirmed two Rotary Manor residents in Dawson Creek have died of COVID-19.

Northern Health declared an outbreak at the facility on November 2, 2020, after one staff member tested positive. Two male residents, one in his 70’s and another in his 80’s have passed away since Friday, November 13, 2020.

Steve Raper with Northern Health, says, “Our condolences go out to the families who have lost a loved one during this especially difficult time.”

At last count, two staff and seven residents tested positive for COVID-19. With the two deaths, the outbreak declaration has been extended until the end of November. If there is no evidence of transmission of the illness at that time, the outbreak will be declared over.

Northern Health says it continues to take steps to protect the health of all facility staff, residents, and families with enhanced control measures. They are also providing additional supports for the facility to answer questions from staff, residents, and family and provide active checks of symptoms with staff and residents.
