VICTORIA, B.C. – Five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Friday, in the Northern Health Region, bringing the number of active cases to 62, with 10 in hospital and six of those in ICU.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region now stands at 504.

One new death has been reported in Northern Health bringing the Region’s death count to four.

According to the Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, 617 new cases were confirmed across B.C., bringing the total to 20,985.

Active cases across the province stand at 5,579 and 14,901 have since recovered.

Hospitalizations in B.C. are at 167, with 50 of those in ICU.

The province’s death count is now up to 290.

12,016 people are currently under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

As Thursday’s modelling update clearly showed, Henry says this is a critical time for everyone in our province. We need to act now to protect our loved ones, our Elders, and our communities.

“Now is the time for everyone, right across our province, to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19 – to be leaders by working together with a common purpose to push our curve back down.”
