FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Remembrance Day Services this year will be taking place a little different in areas of the North Peace Region.

Here in Fort St. John, the original idea of an indoor ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, was cancelled as requested by the Royal Legion Command. Instead, there will be a small invite-only ceremony outside the Legion which will be live-streamed on the Legion’s Facebook page as well as the City of Fort St. John’s Facebook page. The Fort St. John Legion strongly recommends that the public stays home to watch the live stream to help prevent further transmission of COVID-19.

In Taylor, the Remembrance Day Service will be live-streamed on the District of Taylor Facebook and YouTube beginning at 10:45 am. The District encourages people to visit the cenotaph outside of the ceremony times and ensure physical distancing.

The Taylor Fire Rescue will also be laying wreaths on behalf of those who have registered for this. If you wish to register you can do so by contacting the Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion at 250-785-3917 or by calling the Community Services Hub at 250-789-2828 before 4 pm today, November 10th.

In Hudson’s Hope, the district will not be live-streaming their ceremony but instead will be posting updates and videos throughout the day on the District’s Facebook page, reminding residents to take time out of their day to remember.
