Fort St. John RCMP say a power outage affecting thousands Monday night was caused by an impaired driver.
Emergency crews were called out to 86 Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. after a welding truck crashed and knocked down a power pole, causing an outage for roughly 6,000 customers.
The driver was not seriously injured, and police said Tuesday that the driver was impaired. No other vehicles were involved.
