VICTORIA, B.C. – 12 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Friday, in the Northern Health Region, making the number of active cases to 39, up from 29 on Thursday, with two in ICU.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region now stands at 450.

According to the Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, 589 new cases were confirmed across B.C., bringing the total to 17,149.

Active cases across the province stand at 3,441 and 13,035 have since recovered.

Hospitalizations in B.C., are at 104, with 28 of those in ICU.

The province’s death count is now up to 275.

7,887 people are currently under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

Henry says The B.C. CDC has implemented a texting service for new cases of COVID-19.

“People in B.C. can now sign up to receive text notification of both positive or negative test results, in addition to test results being available through Health Gateway and other online portals. ”
