FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Maria Keeler, a 2020 graduate of North Peace Secondary School, was a recent recipient of the Governor General’s Academic Bronze Medal.

According to NPSS Principal Randy Pauls, Keeler was Class of 2020 Valedictorian and was able to graduate with top grades.

Pauls says the Secondary School is proud of Keeler’s accomplishments and was very active within her school community, taking on various projects.

“We are very proud of Maria.  She was our top academic student and more importantly, an awesome young lady. She was active with Student Council.  She was building a kayak for her Capstone project.”

Pauls also says she was always respectful and that she is a good choice for the Governor General’s Academic Award.

” She was not afraid to approach administration with concerns and was always respectful, even when she disagreed with some decisions.  She is an excellent choice for this award and will be a positive influence wherever she goes.”

Keeler is currently studying at the University of Alberta for her bachelor’s degree in science, with plans of eventually graduating with her Doctorate of Pharmacy to become a pharmacist.
