FORT NELSON, B.C. – The Northern Rockies Regional Municipal Council has submitted an application for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) – Rural and Northern Communities (RNC) Stream for a $2.17 million grant for updates to the Northern Rockies Regional Airport.

The Airport’s proposed project includes upgrades to the terminal building and operations centre and extending the structures’ in accordance with the Buildings and Facilities Asset Management Plan and Master Plan, along with the Airport Asset Management Plan.

The total budget for the project is estimated at $2,176,625. If this application is approved, because the local population is under 5,000, the ICIP RNC could cover 100 percent of the funding for the proposed project for upgrades at the Airport.
