FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Pomeroy Sport Centre will be host to a two-week training camp for Canada’s long track speed skating team.

According to a release from the City, the camp will run from November 1 to 15 and feature the country’s top national and development team skaters, including thirteen Olympians.

The training camp will mark a return to Northern B.C. for the national team program, which last hosted a camp in Fort St. John the summer prior to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

This two-week camp will help prepare skaters for potential international competitions in 2021.

The Pomeroy Sport Centre is only one of four indoor ovals in North America.

Speed Skating Canada has worked with local and provincial health authorities to develop a set of comprehensive health and safety protocols for the camp.
