GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. – Alberta Health Services is now moving the County of Grande Prairie under a COVID-19 watch, as cases continue to climb.

Alberta Health Services reported four new cases for the County, while 12 new cases were confirmed, Tuesday, in the City of Grande Prairie.

A watch status refers to the presence of at least 10 active cases of COVID-19 and more than 50 active cases per 100,000 within a municipality. The addition of the status means the province is monitoring the risk and will discuss with the County, as well as other community leaders the potential need for extra public health measures.

The City of Grande Prairie is already under an active watch.

When looking at across Alberta, 422 new cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 26,155.

There are currently, 4,738 active cases across the province, with 21,108 having since recovered.

The province’s death count now sits at 309.
