VICTORIA, B.C. – Six new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Friday, bringing the total in Northern Health to 371.

As of Thursday, there were 16 active cases within the Region, with zero hospitalized.

According to the Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, 223 new cases were confirmed, Friday, across B.C., bringing the total to 12,554.

When it comes to active cases across the province, there are 2,009 and 10,247 have since recovered.

Hospitalizations in B.C., are at 75, with 24 of those in ICU.

The province’s death count remains at 256.

4,637 people are currently under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

With a rise in daily cases, Henry says this weekend should be a time to step back from social interactions, in order to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“This is our opportunity and the time to take a step back from our social interactions and keep our groups small this weekend. In doing this, we show our appreciation and support for the important work of contact tracers.”
