FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Fort St. John had moved to weekly garbage and bi-weekly recycling collection and that is expected to continue after the current contract ends October 31.

While the current arrangement technically ends on October 31, City Communications Coordinator Ryan Harvey says the next contract for waste collection has closed and is going to Council for approval at the October 26 meeting.

According to Harvey, the new tender will continue with the weekly garbage collection permanently.

Prior to the pandemic, waste collection for garbage and recycling was on a bi-weekly schedule but was increased as more residents started to stay home due to COVID-19.

More information on waste collection can be found on the City’s website.
