DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – 16 years following her disappearance, Dawson Creek RCMP continue to remain active in the search for Eva Mitchell.
Police say the 83-year-old was last seen at approximately 10:00 a.m. on August 20, 2004, and was reported missing by a family member in Kelly Lake.
It is said that Mitchell did not live a high-risk lifestyle and was known to frequently walk in the wilderness to pick berries without telling anyone.
Between August 21 and August 30, 2004, a search comprised of over 500 people was conducted in the Kelly Lake area including the use of two RCMP helicopters, police dogs, swimming searchers, and ground search and rescue teams from across B.C.
Mitchell is described as:
– Aboriginal
– 83 years old at the time she went missing
– Approximately 130 lbs
– Approximately 5’0 tall
This investigation remains active and ongoing with the Dawson Creek RCMP continuing to investigate leads and following up on information already provided.
