FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The B.C. Conservatives claim the B.C. Liberals’ inability to win voters trust in 2017, and again in this election, is the real reason the NDP have an opportunity to form government.
In a release, B.C. Conservative leader and Peace River North Candidate Trevor Bolin says the B.C. Liberals have been using the “same old message” that a split vote is what put the NDP back in power. According to Bolin, a Conservative split vote is not the reason for the NDP’s power of government, when, in fact, it is a lack of trust amongst voters towards the B.C. Liberals.
“The Liberals in B.C. have been using the same old message that the Conservative vote split can put the NDP back in power, yet the facts show that their lack of being able to win the trust of voters in 2017, and again in this election, is the real reason the NDP have an opportunity to form government.”
Peace River North B.C. Liberal candidate and Incumbent Dan Davies says the distrust in voters towards the B.C. Liberals is not the reason why the NDP got back in power but is because of a split vote.
“In 2017, the vote split did happen. The B.C. Liberals lost two ridings, we lost one by less than a percent and we lost the other by a couple of percent, which was all the NDP needed to get in. So, the vote splitting is a very real thing on the big picture… so to put blame on a party, it’s a very far reach.”
Peace River South Conservative Candidate Kathleen Connolly says they will not buy into the “fear mongering” by Andrew Wilkinson’s Liberals but instead are presenting a campaign to inspire voters to make a democratic choice for the party which best represents them.
