FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Canada Post office was evacuated this morning, Thursday, due to a suspicious package.
According to Fort St. John Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Simpson, they received a call shortly after 8:00 a.m. for an unknown substance leaking from a package found by one of the mail carriers while they were sorting the mail for the day at the Post Office on 101 Avenue.
Since a package was discovered to be leaking an unknown substance, the building was evacuated as a safety precaution.
Simpson says crews arrived and they were able to secure and contain the substance with no injuries reported.
Fort St. John RCMP has now taken over the scene and is investigating the contents of the package.
