FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Salvation Army is nearing the end of renovations for the food bank.
According to Salvation Army Executive Director Cameron Eggie, they have been looking at ways to expand the capacity of the Salvation Army’s food bank through renovations.
Eggie says in order to fund the renovations, they received funding of approximately $180,000 from the national Salvation Army through Agriculture Canada.
With that funding, Eggie says it has allowed them to renovate space to better accommodate for the receiving and distribution of food, along with the purchasing of food for the food bank’s clients.
The funding has also allowed them to upgrade their kitchen to a commercial standard.
Currently, the Fort St. John Salvation Army food bank has been providing food to about 600 individual families per month.
