FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – MP Bob Zimmer announced that he has been appointed to the Standing Committee on Natural Resources.

Zimmer says he is honoured to have been appointed to this important committee as the natural resource sector is the backbone of the country’s economy.

“I am honoured to have been appointed by Opposition Leader Erin O’Toole to sit on this important committee. The natural resource sector is the backbone of our national economy. As we all know, it can and should play an important role in Canada’s economic recovery as we navigate the pandemic. I look forward to continuing to work with our local stakeholders and to provide a voice for Northern BC’s natural resource community on this committee.”

Zimmer also says he looks forward to continuing to work with local stakeholders in Northern B.C. and to provide a voice for the natural resource community.

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources examines issues related to the four industrial sectors that constitute the mandate of the Department of Natural Resources: the energy sector, the forest sector, the minerals and metals sector, and the earth sciences sector.

In addition to his new role as a member of the Standing Committee, Zimmer is also Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus.
