FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Northern Health has confirmed that the COVID-19 related death announced on Friday, October 2nd, was a male in his 60’s.

Friday’s death is the third COVID-19 related death in the Northern Health Region and the third death in the last month, September 5th to October 5th. The first death was a woman in her 70’s who was exposed to the virus while attending an event, and the second was a woman in her 60’s.

Northern Health has not provided any more information about the people that have passed away from COVID-19.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced one new active case Friday, along with the announcement of 161 new cases provincially.

According to the BC CDC website, as of Friday, October 2nd, there are 318 cases in the Northern Health Region, 30 of which are currently active, and there are no hospitalized cases.
