VICTORIA, B.C. – A third person has died of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region.
The new death was announced Friday, along with one new case in the region. A total of 161 new cases were reported across B.C.
As of Friday, the number of active cases in Northern Health has dropped to 30 and 318 cases since the pandemic started.
Currently, there are 1,302 active cases in the province, and 7,813 have since recovered. There are 3,114 people being monitored by public health due to identified exposure to known cases.
Across B.C., the number of deaths from COVID has increased to 238.
Public Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says we are all facing the same obstacles right now. “With kindness and compassion to friends and neighbours, and steadfast commitment to doing the right thing, we will get through this together.”
Over 500,000 tests have been completed in B.C., with just under 22,000 completed in the Northern Health region.
