FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Council received and approved 10 base budget grant applications in 2019 for the amount of $559,341, last year they approved grants in the amount of $497,177.

Local non-profit organizations that will benefit from the additional funding will result in a benefit to the overall community, the following are the approved applications for 2019;

Community Arts Council of Fort St. John (Program Grant) – $18,650

The Arts Council requested $20,000 in funding to be allocated to its member groups. This is the same request as last year however the grant approved for 2018 was $15,000.

Community Arts Council of Fort St. John (Tax Exemption Grant) – $10,320

The Community Arts Council of Fort St. John requested $10,320 in funding in lieu of receiving a Permissive Tax Exemption grant for 2019.

Fort St. John Curling Club – $18,850

The Fort St. John Curling Club submitted a new application for a Base Budget Grant for 2019. The grant requested was $18,850 and is for capital upgrades, not operations.

Fort St. John International Air Show Society – $20,000

The Fort St. John International Air Show Society requested $20,000 in funding for the 2019 Air Show which is tentatively scheduled for July 24, 2019.

Fort St. John Public Library Association- $397,000

The Fort St. John Public Library Association requested $397,000 in funding for 2019 which is the amount of the grant requested and awarded in 2018.

Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society – $9,190

The Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society requested $9,190 in funding for its 2019 bus pass program. This is an increase of $10 and the purpose of the increase is to ensure that the dollar value of the grant equates to an even number of bus tickets/passes.

North Peace Fall Fair Society – $5,000

The North Peace Fall Fair Society requested $5,000 in funding for the 2019 Fall Fair which is the amount of the grant requested and awarded in 2018.

North Peace Historical Society – $15,000

The North Peace Historical Society requested $15,000 in funding for 2019. This is an increase of $5,000 over the grant requested and awarded in 2018 which was
$10,000.

North Peace Justice Society – $14,677

The North Peace Justice Society requested $14,677 in funding for 2019. This is equal to the grant awarded in 2018 however the grant requested for 2018 was $17,000.

Tourism Fort St. John Board – $39,304

The Tourism Fort St. John Board requested $49,304 in funding for 2019. This is an increase of $13,304 from the grant awarded in 2018 which was $36,000. Note: the Tourism Board requested $45,000 for 2018 however the increase was not approved.
