FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Energy Minister Michelle Mungall is making sure that people in northeast B.C. and all over the province, know that the BC NDP government does value their contributions and will work for every corner of the province.
In an interview with Energeticcity.ca after announcing the Site C project would be sent to the BCUC, Mungall said that she understands the concerns of people in northeast B.C. and what happens next.
“I completely understand that people are asking that question and wonder how their lives are going to be impacted and that is one of the very reasons that we wanted to make this an expedited process so that people aren’t having to put their lives on hold for a longer period than necessary. We thought three months was doable and that is why we are limiting it to three months.”
Being from a rural area of B.C. herself, Mungall says she understands how vital communities in northeast B.C. are.
“We are one province. We are working on the basis of delivering for all British Columbians in every single corner of this province. I come from a rural area as well and have a great appreciation for what it is to live outside of the Lower Mainland. I want to reiterate that we care about people in every single corner of this province. We value the resources that are in the northeast B.C. and the people that work on those projects in northeast B.C. and the contributions they are making to their community and their province. We will absolutely be taking their voices and their views into consideration.”
Mungall says that she is also scheduled to visit northeast B.C. before the end of this month.
The BCUC says that they will be releasing details of the review sometime tomorrow.
