FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – There has been another round of layoffs at the Site C dam.

Peace River Hydro Partners Communications Manager, Amber Harding, confirmed the layoffs occurred on Monday morning.

“The main reason is our ongoing workforce management as different scopes of work finish up and we transfer other employees to other scopes of work on the project. Our layoffs are never terminations so we may provide future opportunities for these workers but as is typical in construction, the number of workers will vary.”

Harding says that PRHP always will try and transfer workers to other jobs that could be available. She added though that some worker don’t have the skillset to do the other jobs.

When asked if more layoffs could be coming, Harding couldn’t confirm or deny more are on the horizon.

“I would love to say no but to be honest, with our ongoing workforce management, it is really see as we go and how work progresses in different areas from month to month.”
