FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The North Peace Secondary School’s Senior Girls volleyball team was at Provincials in North Vancouver last weekend.
The girls started the round robin against an incredibly tough opponent. The team faced off against Handsworth Secondary on their home court. With home team advantage, Handsworth won the set in two games 25-13 and 25-10. In set two, Seaquam beat North Peace 25-12 in both games. In their final set against Belmont Secondary, things were looking good for the girls in Game 1. Coach Elena Warkentin said that at one point it looked as though the girls would take the game. Unfortunately, Belmost bested NPSS 25-20 in the first game, and 25-15 in the second game.
Playing against South Delta and Mission on Saturday and Sunday, North Peace didn’t win a game, but made them closer contests than on Thursday. The girls lost to South Delta 25-16/25-17, and to Mission 25-13/25-18.
