Fort St. John cadets see change in command

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Last night at the legion in Fort St. John, the ceremony took place for the outgoing and incoming Commanding Officers of the cadets.

Officer Ken Lane was the Commanding Officer that was in charge of the cadets for a few years.

“I would just like to thank everybody that has been involved in cadets while I was the Commanding Officer. I believe I’ve been one of the luckiest commanding officers in the province.  I would like to thank the Cadets because you are the reason we do this and you are the reason I came here to be apart of this program. Thank you for 3 years of being your commanding officer. It’s been an honour.”

Incoming Commanding Officer Geoff Bough says he is looking forward to the challenge.

“I’m very excited to be here as the new CO of the cadet core. I’m looking forward to the challenges the next couple of years will bring my way and working with you guys to see what kind of exciting program we can deliver.

I want to thank the outgoing CO for all his hard work and dedication. He has definitely been a great mentor for me and I appreciate everything he’s done to get me to where I’m at today.”

Major Dan Davies also said the job requires a lot of time and commitment.

“It does take a lot of time. It does take a lot of patience from your family because you do spend a lot of time down here. Captain Bough has come into a very good Cadet core with strong staff and strong sponsorship committee.”

The evening saw presentations and Bough’s first march past as well as Lane’s last march past.
