FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – After Santa Claus was the victim of theft this past week, the Phoenix Volunteer Club made an early Christmas miracle happen.

Early Monday morning Chuck Miller, who has dressed up as Santa Claus in the Fort St. John area for the past few years, awoke to the sound of his pickup truck being stolen. Inside the truck were the boots that Miller sports while wearing his Santa Claus costume.

Phoenix Volunteer Club vice president Erica O’Day started a fundraiser on Monday to raise money towards the purchase of a new pair of boots for Miller, who had his first engagement on Wednesday. The fundraiser was able to procure a brand new pair of boots for Miller, who was able to get Chris Cringle to his appointment to spread Christmas cheer.

While he has new boots, Miller’s Ford F350 pickup truck that was stolen has yet to reappear. The white 4-door mid-2000’s truck is diesel-powered, and has BC license plate #6596 JL.

O’Day says that the club is continuing to raise money to allow Miller to get a new vehicle to use this Christmas season, explaining that ICBC won’t be able to process the claim for the stolen truck for up to 30 days. So far, $770 has been raised to help Santa with his transportation woes while his reindeer prepare for their arduous circumnavigation on Christmas Eve.

Anyone wishing to donate to towards getting Santa a new set of wheels can reach Erica O’Day by phone at: 250-263-7557, or by email at: Alternately, donations are also being taken at the front desk of the Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel in Fort St. John.
