FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Fire crews were called out early this morning to put out a fire in a storage yard this morning.
Fire Chief Fred Burrows said that the call came in to the department this morning at 3:20 a.m. Crews responded to the fire, which was located in rear part of Peace Country Rentals’ storage yard. Crews found that the fire involved a road compactor, as well as the contents of a sea can storage unit that was next to the road compactor.
Burrows said that crews were able to get the fire under control quickly, but unfortunately the road compactor was completely destroyed in the fire.
Burrows said that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Crews suspect that due to the location of the fire, it could have burned for a long period of time without being noticed.
