DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – A fatal crash over the weekend has claimed the life of a Dawson Creek resident.

Police say a single vehicle crash on Highway 97 on the south side of the Kiskatinaw River Bridge took place on Sunday.

When police arrived on scene they discovered that a vehicle had lost control, rolled on the highway and the driver was thrown from the vehicle. The driver, who was the single occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the crash, the road way was extremely icy. Police are considering speed and slippery roads as contributing factors in the accident.

Police are wanting to remind drivers of the importance of wearing seat belts as well as to be aware of the changing weather conditions.
