FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Elks Speed Skating Club hosted dozens of skaters from across the Peace Region and Northern BC this past weekend in their first interclub long track skating meet.

The competition, which was held on Saturday at the Pomeroy Sports Centre, saw skaters from Dawson Creek, Grande Prairie, and Prince George in a wide range of age groups skating on the oval track.

The Elks’ Renee Kalkman ended up placing first in Division 1 with 3,000 points at the competition, skating in the 500, 1000, and 3000 metre races. Elks skaters Josh Telizyn, Yuna Lovell, Nyam Newlove, and Nicholas Guliov were the top four in Division 2, skating in the 500m and 3000m, as well as a pair of heats in the 300m mass start.
