FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Last Saturday’s Peace Gallery North auction and fundraiser at the North Peace Cultural Centre was a success, despite the economic downturn in the Peace.
Peace Arts Gallery Society President Barry Moss said that though organisers were forecasting that the event would raise less money than last year, the Society managed to meet their minimum goal. Moss said that this year’s auction featured a new format as a masquerade gala. While some guests brought their own masks, ten local artists hand-painted blank masks that were put up for sale at the door. Moss said that the mask sales total were more than tripled the society’s goal. He added that overall, those in attendance were having such a great time at the event that the evening ended up running late due to attendees having such a great time socialising.
Moss says that the Society is incredibly grateful to all of the local artists, guests, and sponsors that helped out with this year’s event, saying that he’s already looking forward to planning for next year’s fundraiser starting in Summer 2017.
