FORT MCMURRAY, A.B. – The Fort St. John Northern Metalic Flyers will be hitting the road for a pair of games this weekend.

The team will be playing a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday in Fort McMurray, taking on the Bantam AA Barons. The team has so far had a phenomenal start to the season, winning games against Grande Prairie and Peace River last weekend. Head coach Craig Brownlee says that the team played excellent in five of the six periods in those two games.

Brownlee says that in their season opener last Saturday at the North Peace Arena, the team utilized the three S’s of speed, skill and smarts in three solid periods against the Grande Prairie Athletic Club. The Flyers took the win 5-4 after going winless against Grande Prairie in three exhibition games.

On Sunday, the Flyers were in Peace River to square off against the Bantam Sabres. After trailing 2-1 after the first period, the Bantam Flyers came out guns blazing, scoring seven unanswered goals on the way to an 8-2 rout.

Heading into Fort MacMurray for two tough games, the team is also looking forward to the post-game celebrations on Saturday. The Barons will be hosting the Flyers for a  Thanksgiving Dinner with both teams.
