Fort St. John area drag racers to compete at World Finals in Memphis

MEMPHIS, T.N. – A number of drag racers from the Fort St. John area will be in Memphis, Tennessee starting tomorrow to compete on the world stage of drag racing.

The Summit World Finals will see the world’s best sportsman racers tearing up the Memphis International Raceway from October 20 – 22 for the Summit Tournament of Champions and the Summit SuperSeries. A total of 11 champions will be crowned during the weekend.

Marlin Chase, Ty Hollingstead, Kaelie Morton, Andy Closkey, Steve Breitkreuz, James Rutherford, Mike Lucas, John Tiegen, Cody Liwiski, Paul LaVoie, Noah McDonald, and George Morgan are among the names from the North Peace that will be making the trip to Memphis.

The Summit Tournament of Champions consists of the top-three finishers in each division from the year-long Summit Pro Am Tour program. All qualified drivers in their respective classes go head-to-head for the world championship at the Summit World Finals. The classes contending for top honors includes: Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod, Hot Rod and Junior Dragster. $117,800 in cash awards is up for grabs in the Summit Tournament of Champions.
