FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Stage North Theatre Society will be bringing one of the founding fathers of rock ‘n’ roll to life at the North Peace Cultural Centre for the next week.

Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story tells the true story of Buddy’s meteoric rise to fame, from the moment in 1957 when “That’ll Be The Day” hit the airwaves until his tragic death less than two years later. The show features more than twenty of Holly’s greatest hits, including “That’ll Be The Day,” “Peggy Sue,” and “Everyday,” plus Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” and the Big Bopper’s “Chantilly Lace.”

Fort St. John musician Mike Sowers will be making his debut with Stage North in starring role. Blair Scott is back in the director’s chair and said the timing was right to bring the story of Buddy Holly to Peace Region audiences.
“Fort St. John’s music scene is currently thriving. There are open mic nights at various venues throughout the city and surrounding area, there are live shows at the North Peace Cultural Centre, Lido Theatre, as well as other venues,” said Scott.

‘Buddy’ is playing at 7:30 p.m. on October 20th, 21st, 22nd, 27th, 28th, and 29th at the North Peace Cultural Centre. Matinee performances are also taking place on both Saturdays of the run at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, students and seniors get in for $20, and children seats are $15. Tickets are available at the NPCC Box Office, and can be ordered by phone at: 250-785-1992 or online at:
