UPDATE #5 – Power has been restored to almost all customers in the B.C. Peace. There are only 800 left without power around Hudson’s Hope.
UPDATE #4 – Hydro now says 15,000 customers are still without power. Hydro is trying to repair damage to their system after a lightning strike caused an equipment failure and power outages all over the B.C. Peace. Power is still out in Chetwynd, areas around Fort St. John, areas around Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge and Hudson’s Hope. There is no estimate on when power will be restored.
UPDATE #3 – Power has been restored in parts of Dawson Creek.
UPDATE #2 – Power remains out to over 25,000 customers in the B.C. Peace. Power has been restored most of the City of Fort St. John, but power is out in many rural areas as well as the communities of Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge and Hudson’s Hope. We will post more updates as information becomes available. There is no estimate on when power will be restored.

UPDATE – Power has been restored to many around Fort St. John and the North Peace, but it seems the South Peace is still without power.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Power was out all over the B.C. Peace for just about 15 minutes Tuesday evening.
According to Hydro, over 34,000 customers were affected by the brief power outage. The cause is listed as a transmission circuit failure.
Power was restored quickly by 6:30 p.m.
We will reach out to Hydro on Wednesday to find out more about what caused this massive, but temporary outage.
