City of Fort St. John auctions off properties with unpaid taxes

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John held the auction today for those properties that have unpaid property taxes.

When you don’t pay your property tax, the City gives you 3 years to pay it. If you don’t, then your property gets put up for sale.

This morning at 10:00 am in the council chambers was when the auction took place and there was quite a high turnout for the event.

The first lot went for $25,000 after back and forth bidding between bidders.

The next lot was located at 8304 85th ave. The starting bid was $4,582.53. The finishing bid was for $35,000.

The next lot was at 8116 98 ave. The starting bid was for $11,487.47. The winning bid was $68,000.

The 4th property was listed at 10416 Alaska Road. The starting bid was $10,784.53. The winning bid for the vacant lot was for $15,000.

The 5th property was redeemed just before the sale, so it was taken off the list.

The 6th property was located at 7904 90th street. The lot was vacant. The starting bid was $3741.18. The lot ended up going for $15,500.

The 7th lot was located at 8619 117th ave. The starting price was $1,044.48. The winning bid for the lot was for $21,000.

The next property was located right next to the previous property at 8703 117th ave. $1,044.48 was the starting bid for the lot. The lot ended up actually going for $20,000 to the same bidder who bought the previous lot.

The next lot was located at 8707 117th ave. The starting bit was $1,044.48 as well. This lot ended up going for $25,000.

The second to lats property was located at 10903 89th ave. This lot had a building on it. The starting bid was $55,414.23. The lot went for $70,000.

The last property was located at 9508, 93rd ave. There was a building on the lot. The starting bid was $77,935.82. This lot ended up going for the asking price.

The buyers had until today to pay for the properties. If they don’t pay, the lots are put up for sale again tomorrow.
