FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – There’s a new officer at the Fort St. John RCMP detachment, although if you happen to be a bit of a news hound, his name might be quite familiar.

Sgt. Dave Tyreman started at the RCMP detachment today, after a well-deserved several weeks off. Sgt. Tyreman moved to the Energetic City after recently being promoted from Corporal. Tyreman will be the detachment’s third in command behind Insp. Mike Kurvers and S/Sgt. Steve Perret.

Tyreman previously served for several years as the North District RCMP’s District Advisory NCO (Media Relations), based in Prince George. Prior to that, he served with the Prince George RCMP’s General Duty section for over 10 years.

In addition to relying on his previous media relations experience and handling media enquiries at the detachment, Tyreman will also be overseeing the Police Dog Unit, Victim Services, Traffic Services, and First Nations Policing.

He says that though the first day has been a busy one, he looks forward to meeting and serving the city. He added that in the short time that he has lived in Fort St. John, the community has been incredibly friendly and welcoming.
