What you need to know about school starting dates and times

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – With school just around the corner (sorry kids) you might want to be updated on who starts when. Most school offices will open August 29th to prepare for the school year and take phone calls.

School District 60 says that all schools will start September 6th and most will be done 4 hours early. You may also want to check with your school individually to see what the schedule looks like.

  • Kindergarten classes are scheduled to start September 14th, however some can have a different start date so check with your school to be 100% sure.
  • For Bert Bowes Middle school,The first day for Grade 7 students will be on Tuesday, September 6th from 8:45 am until 11:00 am. All other students start Wednesday, September 7th at 8:45 am.
  • For Dr. Kearney Middle School, Tuesday, September 6th is for grade 7’s ONLY. 8:45-11:00 am. All other students start on Wednesday, September 7th with a dismissal time of 2:09 pm.
  • For NPSS, the first day for grade 10’s and former ELC grade 11 students is September 6th from 8:49 to 11:18 am. They ask that you meet in the gym foyer at 8:49. There will be a pancake breakfast for all grade 10 students as well as ELC 11 students, and parents at 8:00 am PLEASE NOTE: The 11:18 end time runs outside of the regular bus schedule. The first scheduled day for grade 10, 11, and 12 students is September 7th at 8:49 am. It is a full day of school.
