Kerr notches near-personal best in 50 metre freestyle at Canadian Nationals

EDMONTON, A.B. – Representing Fort St. John’s Inconnu Swim Team at Senior National Championships yesterday, Skyeler Kerr swam a near-personal best in his first event, the 50 metre freestyle, at the Don Smith Memorial Pool in Edmonton.

The field of competition was tough, featuring some of the country’s fastest swimmers. Kerr managed to nearly beat his personal best in yesterday’s race, swimming the 50 metres in 24.72 seconds into 43rd. Though not close to the top 20, he missed qualifying for the finals by less than 0.8 seconds. The Energetic City’s lone competitor at Senior Nationals will be swimming again this morning in the 50m Butterfly event, which is set to begin at approximately 9:30 Pacific Time.
