Crash at 100th Street and Alaska Highway sends one woman to hospital

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – One woman has been taken to hospital after a crash happened on the Alaska Highway in Fort St. John this morning.

The Fort St John RCMP along with Fire Rescue and Ambulance crews received the report of a head-on collision at the intersection of 100th Street and the Alaska Highway just before 10:00 a.m. Upon arrival crews discovered that an SUV and a pickup truck pulling a flatdeck trailer had collided in the intersection. Traffic flow on the highway was interrupted for approximately an hour while police kept some lanes moving and opened detours along Alaska Road. The male driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the crash, while the female driver of the SUV was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation, although police say that they have ruled out alcohol as a contributing a factor.
