Chetwynd RCMP investigate shooting in Cameron Lake area

CHETWYND, B.C. – Chetwynd RCMP say they are investigating a shooting that happened in the Cameron Lake campground area early on Tuesday morning.

At around 5:30 am on Tuesday, August 23rd, Chetwynd RCMP got a 911 call that a male had been shot. When the call was made, the man that was shot was being transported to hospital by another camper.

RCMP then went to the scene of the shooting and secured the area and gathered information.

The victim in a 24 year-old man. He remains in serious condition in the hospital from gunshot wounds.

The investigation is ongoing, and it has been determined that this was not a random act of violence with the victim and suspect(s) being known to one another. –  Cpl Dan Moskaluk

Fort St. John RCMP did confirm as well that they were stopping vehicles in Fort St. John and Taylor, looking for the possible suspect in the shooting.
