FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The BC Government is providing over $130,000 in grants to Chetwynd, Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge to help grow a greener BC.
The goal is to have more healthy and sustainable communities says MLA Mike Bernier.
· Chetwynd will receive $31,775
· Dawson Creek will receive $81,420
· Tumbler Ridge will receive $21,156
Bernier also says he believes combined efforts can grow a greener BC.
“I think the combined efforts of our communities results in a more energy efficient way to deliver services. Local governments influence 40 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions in British Columbia and our northern communities are making a difference from both an environmental standpoint and value to local rate payers.”
This funding is given out to communities that have signed the climate action charter. The government supports their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
