FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Site C has reached another Milestone.
BC Hydro along with ATCO Two Rivers Lodging Group, announced today that they have now reached 1,200 rooms that are now open at the accommodation lounge.
This marks the completion of phase 2. Phase 1 was completed in February of 2016. BC Hydro says that the phases have been completed on time, and on budget. Phase 3 is expected to be completed by September of this year.
With the completion of phase 2, there is now the full dining hall and kitchen, lounge and fitness facility. When phase 3 is completed, there will be a total of 1,600 rooms.
ATCO was awarded the eight-year, $470-million contract to complete the design, construction, partial financing, operation and maintenance of the worker accommodation lodge.
Mike Bernier, MLA for Peace River North says it is great to have such milestones achieved.
“With the completion of the second phase of the camp, we have another construction milestone accomplished on schedule and within budget. I’m pleased to see the construction of Site C progressing well.”
There is also a medical clinic on site for the workers to access medical care, instead of having to leave the site to do so. The clinic sees about 1% everyday of the population that are currently on site.
