FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Northern BC food banks are finding some relief after a sizeable donation from North Peace Savings & Credit Union (NPSCU).
The Credit Union donated $10,000 to help local food banks. Food banks have noticed a significant increase in people needing their services, diminishing their food supplies at a faster rate.
The NPSCU is hoping that the donation will help with the 4 food banks that are served currently.
· Women’s Resource Society Foodbank – Fort St John
· Friends of Hudson’s Hope Society Foodbank – Hudson’s Hope
· Fort Nelson Aboriginal Society Foodbank – Fort Nelson
· Networks Ministries Foodbank – Dawson Creek
“We will now be able to fill the fridge with meat,” said Patti Campbell, Administrator for the Friends of Hudson’s Hope Society. “We have been impacted by the economy and some of our supply levels had reached a critical point.”
“We support our communities at all times, including changing times,” said Mitchel Chilcott, CEO, North Peace Savings & Credit Union. “NPSCU ensures we invest in ways that are relevant to the current and future needs of the regions we serve.” This donation will ensure food banks can continue to meet the needs of community members.”
