Mary Browns fire now being investigated as arson

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Fort St. John RCMP say the fire that occurred at Mary Browns over the weekend is now being investigated as an arson.

Staff Sergeant Steve Perret with the Fort St. John RCMP says police are treating the investigation as a arson.

“We’re treating it as an arson investigation at this time. It is still in the early stages but we don’t have any suspects yet, we believe the fire was suspicious.”

The fire could be connected to two fires that happened in Grande Prairie at Mary Browns.

The first incident was on January 12th when cameras appeared to show 3 people pouring gas over the floor and lighting a small fire by the back exit as the were leaving.

The second incident happened on February 28th when the business was damaged by fire after a witness described seeing a flash go off inside of the building.

Perret says there will be more details in the coming days.
