CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. – Lakepoint Golf & Country Club will be hosting a ladies-only golf tournament this weekend, with the proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.

The Golf Fore The Cure tournament will begin on Friday afternoon at 6:00 p.m. with a 9-hole practice round, followed by a martini social. Participants will also be bidding on members of the Charlie Lake Fire Department, who will act as their caddies. The 18-hole tournament begins in earnest on Saturday, with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start. Foursomes can choose to play either competitively, or a best-ball Texas Scramble. Members of the Big Bam Vertical Slam will also be on the course, providing activities and games on several holes. After the round, the tournament will conclude with a marshmallow driving competition, as well as dinner, a raffle and a silent auction to raise money for breast cancer research.

Tournament organiser Sam Warren with the Lakepoint ladies golf league says that last year, the group raised nearly $5,000. This year, Warren says that the group is on track to raise close to $10,000, nearly double last year’s tally.
